I stopped by
blackfeminism.org and came across a fascinating article entitled
The Measure of Meritocracy. The article is actually an interview with Lani Guiner, writer of an upcoming book:
Meritocracy Inc.: How Wealth Became Merit, Class Became Race, and College Education Became a Gift from the Poor to the Rich. It was interesting reading the article because I completely agree with her bottom line of a meritocracy myth but I don't buy some of the higher conclusions that get her there. The bit that bothers me the most is alluded to in the final part of the title of her book and in this snippet:
